Langenburg Forum 2013

On May 27th, 2013 the Langenburg Forum “Towards Sustainable Regional Food Systems” took place at the Langenburg Castle. During the conference international experts discussed sustainable regional agriculture and food systems.

In three rounds of discussions representatives from all areas of the food sector, among them, farmers, manufacturers, food retailers, environmental and consumer protection groups, food security experts, as well as political representatives, came together to discuss the development of sustainable regional agricultural and food production systems. At the centre of the discussion was the optimisation of local and regional food systems, the maintenance of jobs in rural areas as well as strengthening small scale farming structures.

International examples from the flagship region Hohenlohe, showed how successful initiatives and new information and communications technologies have already led to the spread of local, sustainable food production and restocking of local supply chains.
